旁白：What’s the difference between Chinese and English culture?Though we have learnt their language and have watched plenty of their film,it’s a real question whether we can adapt ourselves to their culture. First, let’s watch an interesting movie part.

Gua Sha is a movie about the differences between Americanand Chinese culture. Xu datong is a video games designer in St. Louis. When his father visits from China, he performs Gua Sha (a Chinese traditional treatment) on his grandson, which leaves bright red marks on the skin and causes a lawsuit of child abuse. In the court, Datong loses his mind so that finally he loses custody of his son. Now let’s watch the video.

It’s really an interesting movie, isn’t it? But what will we meet in our daily life?

Now,let’s begin the story about Mary, a Chinese overseas student.

（学校）

Mary：I’m Chinese .

Lina:I’m American.

(开始)

Mary: Hi,Lina,long time no see.But you look so pale. What’s the matter?Lina: I’m feeling sick. A cold, maybe.（此处可加打喷嚏等动作）Mary: Maybe you should go and see the doctor. Drink more water. Did you take any pills? Chinese medicine works wonderful. Would you like to try? Put on more clothes. Have a good rest.Lina: You are not my mother, are you?(angry)

Mary:You are angry?Why are you angry?I’m expressing my concern about you!How can you get impatient with me?(泪奔~)

（Mary家）

Mary:Oh!What a terrible day.I feel so tired to go to sleep.(睡觉)

（金属乐）

Mary:(惊醒后生气)Oh! What’s up!The noise is from the nextdoor.It’s 1 O’clock!What’s my neighbourdoing!

(生气地走向隔壁，敲门。邻居跳着舞开门)

N:Hei！Guy！It’s a party time.Do you want to join us?(热情)

M:Well…No,thanks…eh…It seems that you are having a good time.

N:Of course,dear!What’s up?Can I do anything for you?

M:Eh…yes…I know it may be a wonderful day for you…and I felt so sorry to interrupt you ,but…well…I mean…I’m ok but perhaps other neighbours are not very good…so…(尴尬)

N：So what?

M:Eh…well…I want to ask you. What time is it now?

N:Oh!So you came here and knocked my door in order to ask the time? Are you kiding me? What’s wrong with your clock? Let me have a look. Em…it’s 1:10.OK!Goodbye!See you!(关门)

（Mary石化）

N：（关门后耸肩）What a strange person! I really can’t understand what he wants to express.

(Mary无奈的回去睡觉)

（Mary 的梦中。。。Mary蹲在地上画圈圈）

M:Draw a picture to swear you…

God: Hello ! My poor child, why are you so sad…

M:Ohps!Who are you?

G:I’m god and I have plenty of magic power. Maybe I can help you.

M:Oh…my great god…I felt very nervous. I can’t adapt myself to the new situation. Because of the different culture, I can’t understand my friends and they also can’t understand me. We always have misunderstandings with each other. How could I do?

G:Oh…my child, I can help you. I can give you an English brain and then you can think as an English person.

M:Really?

G:My child…please remember…god is with you.(施法)

（穿越回学校）

Mary: Hi, Lina, long time no see. But you look so pale. What’s the matter?Lina: I’m feeling sick. A cold, maybe.（此处可加打喷嚏等动作）M: Take extra care of yourself. I hope you’ll be better soon.

L:Oh!Thank you for you care.

(穿越回邻居家门口。。。Mary敲门，邻居跳着舞开门)

N:Hei！Quy！It’s a party time. Do you want to join us?(热情)

M:Oh..well…I felt so sorry to interrupt you, but…it’s 1:10.Everybody is sleeping. Could you turn down the music?

N:Oh!Oh!I’m very sorry. I will deal with it well. Trust me.（二人下场）

(众人上场)

G:Ho~ho~ho~a lovely story isn’t it? Misunderstandings always occur between people from different cultural backgrounds. May be I ,the god, didn’t appear to help you. But please remember, everything depends on yourself. Even though people have big misunderstandings, as long as we work hard tosolve it, everything will become better. Now , that’s all. Thank you.
